bio

Morgaine d'Abney has been writing poetry since her teenage years. Growing up in rural Missouri gave her lots of time for reading, imagination and writing.

Morgaine has tried her hands at different types of creative expression: painting, photography, music, even voice overs, but she returns instinctively to writing. Among the writers she loves to read are Plath, Tennyson, Raleigh, Parker and Mortensen (as in Viggo).

Waiting For Kundun

Some of us are thirsty
Some are tired of standing in line
Some sit on cell phones
Some complain to friends
Inside a man waits
Who does not complain
Who has tasted starvation
Who has escaped death
This line we stand in is nothing

Anxious to hear him
Anxious for the inner peace
I hoped would come
I knew it wouldn't be
An epiphany
But words digested
Ideas blended
Revelations over time

In this longest line
Mixed young and old
All races, creeds and colors
The rich stand
The poor stand
Dressed up
Dressed down
All to hear the words
Of a simple monk
A man none of us had met
But whose life
We know by heart
Not rock star
Not super hero
Not miracle worker
Only human

All these long lines
Mingle around me
Different languages flow between
Japanese, Dutch, German, English
Russian, French, Swahili
The lines snake backward
Forward
In all directions
As we think of the topic
"Inner Peace To World Peace"
Some seeking
Some praising
Some only here because they are
What mental revelation
What lifting of spirit
Perhaps all
Perhaps none
But a man talking
And us listening
The line shifts and we walk
In a slow pace of steps
Inside
