Relay Race

We're all destinies waiting to unfold.
Oh, moral pundits say we're free to choose.
But what we do already was foretold
by options and desires that infuse
our sensibilities. And each, in turn,
upon Life's fast, deterministic track,
is factored in the road map where we'll learn
about a future that was programmed back
millennia ago. We're left to reap
the harvest of our own and other deeds.
Their fruits-before we're on the rubbish heap-
themselves possess the germinating seeds
informing generations still to come
believing they're the whereto and wherefrom.
