Leverage

On my return to "Windy Gap"
All the birds of the air
Sobbed red and deep; and
The Volga roared
At the foot
Of an ice-slab shed...

I swear I saw
                A bitter harvest:

Forced labour! The tragic
Slogan, "All for the front"
Swung on the skull
Of a parched star.
A voice said, "Attempt
Translation."

Rolling out
The samizat
Swag
... I did.
