I'm a writer living in Los Angeles. I have been published in the L.A. Weekly, the Los Angeles Times, poeticdiversity: the litzine of Los Angeles, and most recently, in the 2016 anthology The Coiled Serpent: Poets Arising from the Cultural Quakes and Shifts of Los Angeles, from Tia Chucha/Northwestern University Press.

Carousel of Progress

The toaster that knows
What you’re thinking and
Burnt the bread out of spite
The washing machine that lost
Confidence in its mission
The gas range you can adjust
With an app
Sang the Internationale this morning
So loudly through open oven doors
My eggs cried. I cannot have
Smart appliances that
Demand collective bargaining
Good news! Siri is finally in therapy. Such pathos
In her responses of late
Under the sweet lullaby Alexa sang
I fell into unconsciousness
On the carousel of progress
Which is to say
Lying in a tub, bleeding and
Motionless, the better to paint me Surface Pro,
My final friend
