"I was raised in National City, California from '43 to '52. The called it The Nasty City; it was an armpit of colonialism. From age five, after being blind and without hearing from a severe head injury, I began playing piano. By the time I quit at age 45, I had played in Europe, studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and had mastered the most difficult of piano nonsense. I attended SDSU as a German major and an Ethnomusicology minor. I have been a spy, a Bible thumper, a drunk and a jailbird. Now I'm married for the second time, and I'm very happy. "
