Unicorns and Blue Roses |
The poet asked the question
Are there really unicorns?
Were there ever?
Even way back when,
Running and playing,
Filled with pure joy and laughter?
The scientist answered
No. There are not
Nor were there ever unicorns
Not now or ever.
We have done the research
We have searched the glyphs
And the fossils and records
And have found no evidence
Of unicorns.
No, said the scientist
There are no unicorns.
The poet asked the question
Are there really blue roses?
With delightful green stems and leaves
And no thorns
Were there ever?
Even way back when
Covering whole meadows
With playful splashes of color.
The scientist answered
No, There are not
Nor were there ever blue roses
Not now or ever
We have done the research
We have searched the glyphs
And the fossils and records
And have found no evidence
Of blue roses.
No, said the scientist
There are no blue roses.
But the poet did not
Even take the time to listen
To the scientist
The poet was much too busy
Weaving blue roses into the manes of Unicorns.
