i want to write something new
something interesting
a new shiny zinc penny
perfect & untouched
i want to fit in the same clothes
i wore in high school,
maybe college, w/good hair
& all my original teeth
i want an erection that i can
hang a wet towel on ;
the ability to go all night
w/out question or concern
i want to live w/out threat
from people that do not understand
empathy or compassion,
or fairness or life w/out fear
i want a government that
actually cares about its citizens;
the ones at the bottom all the
way to the top
i want to sleep the whole night
w/out night terrors & screaming
or gunshots in the alley out back;
or cars crashing into concrete
i want to love whomever i want
w/out threat of reprisal; equal & open,
just another face in a large
crowd of faces -
