the plaintive song |
The plaintive song
he offered to the ascending moon,
now drifts in the wind,
weighed down
with his longing.
Perched on
the edge of a
rockslide,
she tilts a delicate ear
toward the darkening horizon,
& listens to
the harmonic question-
howls her vow
back through the night,
steps off the edge,
& follows the moon-washed path
to her destiny,
each stride more swift
and sure.
