I am the hollow
haunted shell
whose wails
can only be heard
when held to
someone’s ear.
I’ve been left
out on the hot
dry sand and
tossed by the
salty waves.
My beauty
is delicate
yet I am hard
to the touch
and I
cracked
years ago.
I’ll split in
two someday
but I hope
my jagged edge
won’t slice the
ears of those
who wish
to listen to
my echoes.
