Unseen Heroes |
There are so many heroes we never do see,
just ordinary people, like you and me.
When you stopped for gas deep in the night,
bundled from cold, your hair all afright,
did you notice the single mom, behind the counter alone?
Working all night to feed a child at home.
Can you imagine her fear, all alone in that store,
when so late at night, you walk through the door?
An elderly man, with a disfigured face,
alone in the bar, always in the same place.
Scarred with burns from rushing in a fire,
he saved a baby girl, then they made him retire.
He once was a fireman, courageous and bold.
Now deemed useless, he drinks and grows old.
So as you rush through your day, take a moment to see
the people around you, for what they really may be.
The unseen heroes we take for granted each day,
who go above and beyond the worth of their pay.
