Prayer For Earth |
I live to love the whole I know as thee,
yet in these days of war lords left and right,
it’s hard the fated one before to see
his lamp full doused into this blackened night.
And oh, my soul, the blade so deep the gash
as soldiers fall with children on the road
and tears belie the rage inside they mask
‘til too they dress the bombs to self implode.
But would that we may find inside our hearts
A breach through which to flood this drying land,
‘til reservoirs of peace become the only art
and faith like Gandhi’s river fills our hands.
In action let the means our peace withstand
Oh God, these things I set to thy command.
