Center of Gravity |
On its axis, the world spins
faces dark, light, other worlds
slowly cruises around the sun
takes our moon along for the ride
the woman’s mind spins on its axis
faces dark and light, other places
she cruises around the city
takes her man along for the ride
once they stop
he falls forward into bushes
bangs his knee, pulls sticks, petals from his hair
feels his heart beat faster
his breath first rapid
then deep
center point lost
he can no longer revolve
so floats in a strange orbit, disjointed
makes her laugh out loud
feels others watch, adjust their telescopes
send him in for a grease job
and some fine adjustment
on his axis.
