"I was raised by very unconventional parents and I am one of nine in a blended family. The focus of the family was music, dance, art and intellectual stamina in that order. I have written poetry since I was twelve years old and been involved in performance art and various art media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mask making. In the mid-seventies I embarked on a round the world trip on a trimaran with six other people. We ended up in Tahiti and spent over a year living amongst those very beautiful islands. I married one of the crew and we had two absolutely fabulous children. A daughter, named Tessa. She was a humanitarian and served in the Peace Corps. Her service was in Tonga, an island in the Pacific, where she tragically was killed by a shark. She was 24. My son, Xavier, a very lively, athletic, popular boy was unfortunately injured in an automobile rollover when he was sixteen, which has left him a paraplegic. He is now thriving as a sound editor in the motion picture industry."
