  Maria Burgio received a Ph.D from New York University in 1987 from the Applied Developmental Studies Program, having received multiple honors including: NYU University Fellow, Department Fellow, Graduate Teaching Assistantship.
  In 2006, she completed a Masters of Professional Writing from the University of Southern California. Maria writes mainstream nonfiction books on child development, creative nonfiction, works of short fiction, including one act plays, and poems. She has been published in the Southern California Anthology (USC), and Perihelion Online Literary Magazine. Her website can be found on:
