Ratpack Slim is Rob Sturma is for better of worse, all over the place in the Los Angeles spoken word scene since the beginning of the millenium. He's performed with hip hop and spoken word artists; with musicians, deejays, and beatboxers; with other talented poets and by his damn self now and again. The past few years have seen Slim share stages with the likes of Saul Williams, Cody ChesnuTT, Sage Francis, DJ Z-Trip, and other diverse visionaries. He's been affliated with the guerilla poets of Litrave, the Poets of The Round Table, and his own hip-hop spoken word group Nondescript. He hosts the open mic Green every Monday at the Un-Urban Cafe in Santa Monica. He co-hosts Fresh Produce with Snowplough once a month in Westwood. He is a member of the 2003 Los Feliz Slam Team, which made a name for itself at the National Poetry Slam, ending up in the top ten teams in the nation. He's put out two chapbooks, the latest titled The Spark, and a full-length recording is in the works. His mission in performing everywhere from rock clubs to libraries to radio stations to coffeehouses to theatres to street corners is to bring poetry to the non-poet. Gang Of One for life plus twenty.
